About Us

Local stories.
Wider curiosity.

South West Secrets of Lincoln is a local publication in development, with a simple purpose: to pay closer attention to the south-west side of the city.

Red-brick buildings, a small shopfront, and a bicycle along a quiet Lincoln street
The everyday is worth a second look.

Why this publication?

Not everything important makes a big noise.

Some stories begin with a meeting. Others begin with a conversation across a shop counter, a notice pinned to a wall, or a building you’ve walked past for years without knowing its history.

We want to make room for those stories. Our focus is south-west Lincoln, while recognizing that people’s working lives, friendships, and interests don’t stop at a neighborhood boundary.

What’s in a name?

For us, “secrets” means the overlooked, not the sensational. It’s an invitation to notice more, ask better questions, and discover something beyond the familiar view.

We’re at the beginning. There are no published posts yet, and we’re welcoming thoughtful ideas as we shape our coverage.

Our editorial approach

Curiosity, with care.

The standards we want our work to meet.

01 / Accuracy

Check before sharing

Trace claims to their sources, distinguish firsthand accounts from hearsay, and say clearly when a detail cannot be confirmed.

02 / Fairness

Leave room for context

Listen beyond the loudest voice. Treat people as people, ask for relevant perspectives, and avoid turning uncertainty into a dramatic headline.

03 / Accountability

Keep the conversation open

Welcome corrections and useful context. When published work needs correcting, explain what changed rather than quietly hiding the mistake.
